Slovakia Inflation Rate Eases in April

The annual inflation rate in Slovakia slowed to 13.8% in April from 14.8% in the previous month, data from the Bratislava-based Slovak Statistical Office (SÚSR) showed on Monday.

Prices eased mainly for food & non-alcoholic beverages (25.4% vs 28.2% in March) and housing & utilities (12.3% vs 13.6%).

Moreover, costs decreased for the first time in over two years for transport (-0.2% vs 2.2%), linked to lower fuel prices.

On a monthly basis, consumer prices increased 0.6%, easing from a 1.2% advance in March.
